William 'Bill' John Brewster, Ridgewood High School Class Of '68, Died Sunday

He played a part in constructing the Meadowlands Sports Complex and always supported people where he lived.

William “Bill” John Brewster, 65, of Morristown, and a Ridgewood High School alumnus, died Sunday.

He was born in Hackensack, grew up in Ho-Ho-Kus, and is a member of the Ridgewood High School class of 1968. He is a graduate of the University of Miami, class of 1972.

After graduating college, he returned to Ho-Ho-Kus where he worked for the family business, Brewster Construction and Equipment Company. He was the cost manager for several projects near to and including the Meadowlands Sports Complex.

He and his wife Patty moved to Kinnelon in the 1980s where they raised their sons, Matthew and Patrick. The Jersey Shore and Costa Rica were second homes for the family.

He resided in Milford, Pennsylvania in the summer and Costa Rica in the winter for the past four years.

He always had a passion for things that went fast and were on four wheels. He completed many custom car projects, putting his stamp of creativity and detail on each one.

BHe supported many people in each community he lived, always exhibiting his experience, strength, and hope with others. He will be sorely missed, but always remembered in the hearts of those he touched.

He is survived by his wife, sons, mother, Mary Abeel Sullivan, brother bobby, and nephew, William George Brewster.

A funeral service will be held at C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home Thursday at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at Hackensack Cemetery.
