Toddler Burned At Day Care In Bergen County, Woman Charged For Neglect: Prosecutors

A 24-year-old woman has been charged in connection with "serious burns" received by a toddler in a Bergen County day care last week.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A woman has been charged with child endangerment after a toddler was seriously burned at a Bergen County day care last Thursday, prosecutors said.

Ann Zheng, 24, of Palisades Park, was charged Monday, said the office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

Prosecutors said that on Monday, April 1, the Palisades Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding a toddler who had sustained serious burns to his body on Thursday, March 28, while attending Dearest Angel Child Care in Palisades Park.

Prosecutors said that an investigation determined that Zheng, "while having an assumed responsibility for the child, neglected the child, resulting in the child sustaining serious burn injuries."

Zheng was arrested in Palisades Park, NJ and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

She has been taken to the Bergen County Jail for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
