Woman Extorted Ex-Lover Using Explicit Videos, Teaneck Police Say

A woman was arrested last week for using explicit videos to extort her ex-lover in Teaneck, police said.

TEANECK, NJ — A Bronx woman was arrested last week for allegedly using explicit videos to extort money from an ex-lover, police said Tuesday.

Kariymah Negron, 36, of the Bronx, was arrested on Feb. 17 on a charge of theft by extortion, Teaneck Police said Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Seth Kriegel said that last July, a Teaneck resident reported being a victim of extortion by Negron "with whom [the person] had previously been involved in a dating relationship."

The victim said that Negron asked for money in exchange for explicit videos. The victim declined to pay.

According to the victim, Negron then threatened to send an anonymous email to the victim’s employer saying that they were using illegal narcotics.

The victim feared the consequences and transferred $100 to Negron electronically, police said.

Detective Matthew Carratura led an investigation into the matter, "which included obtaining subpoenas for cellular telephone and payment service subscriber information," Kriegel said.

After the investigation, Negron was charged with second-degree theft by extortion.

She was arrested by the Bergen County Sherriff's Department on Feb. 17, Kriegel said.

She was taken to the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center, then released with a court date, police said.
