Women's Chorus Seeks 2019 Scholarship Applicants
2019 Renee Craig Music In Motion Scholarship Application, sponsored by Harmony Celebration Chorus of Ridgewood, NJ, is now open.
Ridgewood, N.J. (March 2019) – Attention high-school seniors interested in studying music at the university level! Harmony Celebration Chorus, a championship chapter of Sweet Adelines International, would love to help, especially if the applicant appreciates a cappella and barbershop music. Applications are being accepted from young men and young women for the 2019 Renee Craig Music in Motion Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship recognizes the lifetime contributions to the craft of barbershop and a cappella music made by Renee Craig—the legendary director of New Jersey’s now-retired International Champion Ramapo Valley Chorus, a brilliant arranger and quartet champion with the Cracker Jills.
The 2018 scholarship winner was aspiring performer Sara Vaccaro, who is now studying at Syracuse University. Sara was a member of the Ridgewood High School choir program during all four years of her high school career. She was a member of the Chamber Choir and the a cappella program. In addition to being a member of the choir program, she was also in several musical productions during her time at Ridgewood High School, including “Hamlet” and “The Pajama Game”. The deadline for the 2019 scholarship applications is April 1, 2019. To obtain a copy of the application, please visit www.harmonycelebration.com.
Funding for this scholarship was made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, through grant funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historical Affairs.
