A ReMarthable Experience

has the Cake Boss and Baltimore, Md., has Ace of Cakes, but RiverDell has the The Art of Cake and local resident Tammy Dunwoody. And recently Dunwoody made her own television appearance on the Martha Stewart Show as a ReMarthable finalist.

"The contest was about what makes you like Martha, " Dunwoody said. "I had designed a cake for a family from Haworth with birds on it and I know Martha loves the coasts of Maine and birds so I submitted a picture."

A few weeks later, Dunwoody got the good news - she was selected as a finalist to appear on the show. So with her daughter and some friends by her side, she headed into New York City to meet Stewart and show the world how to decorate a cake with fondant.

"I thought I would be nervous, but the crew and producer made me feel comfortable. I may not have won, but it was a great experience. Since appearing on the show, I've gotten calls from around the country from people wanting cakes or to just say they enjoyed the show."

A former WallStreet broker and native of Virginia, Dunwoody and are now preparing to head into their busiest season: confirmations, bar/bat mitzvah's, weddings and graduations.

"We take orders online, but you should order early. Around Christmas, it was so busy I was actually turning down orders."

The Art of Cake has previously designed cakes for Bill Griffith of CNBC and the Bob Hope family - and Dunwoody hopes there may be more big names to add to that list in the future. But before any of that, she will be on hand at the Taste of Paramus on April 27 and on May 13 for the Taste of Oradell.
