Actors Sought to Appear as Supernumeraries (Extras) in Verismo Opera’s New Production, Madama Butterfly

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera (Verismo Opera) under Artistic Director Lucine Amara has opportunities for men, women and youngsters to perform important non-singing, non-speaking acting roles as supernumeraries (supers), similar to extra roles in a movie, in the company’s new dramatic production of Madama Butterfly on October 7 at 3p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood.

“Participating as a super with Verismo Opera is a great opportunity to do something completely different, learn what is involved in preparing a fully staged opera, and work with some very talented and enthusiastic singers, musicians, and directors. With each new production, I'm still amazed to see the transformation from the initial rehearsal to the actual performance with the dramatic arias, rousing choral passages, and great music and scenery. So join us, and on with the show!" stated Englewood resident Dr. James Garvin, who has appeared as a supernumerary in several Verismo Opera productions.
