Esther Fletcher, River Edge resident and mathematics teacher in the Carlstadt Public School, is one of nine recipients of the PSE&G Environmental Education Grant Award.
Fletcher will be working with her students on a paper conservation project involving both seventh and eighth grade students over a two year period. The project goal is to demonstrate the environmental and financial benefits of conservation through interdisciplinary studies, focusing on mathematical representations.
Thanks to an e-mail from fellow Green Team member, Henry Semmler, Fletcher completed the extensive grant application over the summer. Fletcher hopes that every student involved in this project will realize their impact on the environment.

A slight reduction in paper usage can have a large impact over time. Fletcher is proud to accept the award in the amount of $2400 to support the project stating, “Our children should feel empowered to make a difference.”
