Authors' Day at Historic New Bridge Landing
Sunday, April 10, 2016, 1 pm to 5 pm
Sixteen authors will have books available for purchase and signing in the Steuben House. Titles cover Native Americans and early explorers, the Revolutionary War, town histories, biographies, and more, including authors of children’s books.
2 PM: Jim Wright, author of “The Bird Watcher” column in the Record, and author of The Nature of the Meadowlands, Duck Enough to Fly, Icky the Hungry Heron and The Ghosts of Allendale, will read from his children’s books.

3:30 PM: Ree Hopper will lead a book discussion on the 2015 historical novel, Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart. This 1914 story is based on the real-life adventures of Bergen County's Kopp sisters who took on a silk baron and won. Ree provided historical research for the book.
Visit the authors in the Steuben House before or after readings and book discussion.
Three 18th-century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses on the Revolutionary War battleground will be open for tours.

Refreshments will be served in the restored eighteenth-century tavern in the Campbell-Christie House (1774), where there is also a gift shop. Visit the outkitchen where open-hearth cooking will be demonstrated. Stand on the oldest highway swing bridge in NJ, dating to 1889, and contemplate Washington’s retreat across the Bridge That Saved Nation in November 1776. The barn will be open, weather permitting.
Experience history in one of the most storied places where it was made! $10 for adults. To encourage readership, students 5-22 yrs old are free for this event. BCHS members free.
