Boy, 8, Nearly Drowns In River Vale Swimming Pool: Report
A quick-thinking resident saved the boy's life, one report said.

RIVER VALE, N.J. — An 8-year-old boy nearly drowned in a borough swimming pool Sunday, but was saved thanks to a quick-thinking homeowner, a report said.
The boy and his parents were at Vince Ascolese's home in the backyard Sunday, CBS2 reported.
The boy was in the pool and his parents looked away for a moment. When they looked back, he was at the bottom of the pool, face down, according to the report.

Ascolese quickly got the boy, who was blue, out of the pool and administered CPR, the report said.
The boy was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.

River Vale Police Detective Sgt. John DeVoe could not be reached for comment Monday morning.
