Celebrate America's 250th anniversary with the Adelphi Orchestra as Northern New Jersey’s longest continuously performing chamber orchestra opens its landmark 73rd season under the direction of Principal Conductor Kyunghun Kim.
Titled "American Voice at 250," this celebratory program honors America's semiquincentennial by highlighting monumental works from the American orchestral repertoire alongside one of classical music’s most spirited symphonies.
The concert opens with Samuel Barber’s universally revered Adagio for Strings, Op. 11, followed by Barber’s expressive Violin Concerto, Op. 14, featuring guest soloist Sophia Werner (Juilliard Kovner Fellow and winner of the 2022 Adelphi Young Artist Competition). To conclude the performance, Maestro Kim leads the orchestra in Ludwig van Beethoven’s joyful Symphony No. 8 in F major, Op. 93.
