Chris Rago is a Pet's Best Friend

Four years later and business is still booming for Chris Rago. His Oradell-based dual business venture, Pet's Best Friend and Doggy Deuce has practically doubled since it started and now Rago is expanding with a store front in Woodcliff Lake.

Rago began with Doggy Deuce, a pooper scooper service for Bergen County residents who want a pristine yard but just may not have the time to clean up after their canine family members. He later added on Pet’s Best Friend NJ which offers pet sitting and dog walking services.

"We're doing 40 dog walks a day with well over 1000 customers," Rago said. "Business has doubled since last year."

With  his start-up company doing so well, Rago just picked up a trio of scooters for his dog walkers to use as a way to cut back on gas consumption. Rago and his employees travel throughout Bergen County and Rockland County in New York to reach their clientele.

"Due to rising gas prices and emission, I thought it would be more fun for the walkers to get their motorcycle licenses," Rago said. "It cuts down on gas consumption and lets the girls have fun."

The scooters have a 55cc engine and can do about 45mph, but Rago hopes in the future to add more scooters to his arsenal that could take the dog walkers out onto the highway for the longer commute.

The other new addition to Rago's business is Pet Mart USA, a retail store for organic, holistic dog food and treats. The organic dog kibble is available for specific breeds such as a Yorkshire Terrier or Bulldog, by age (puppy, adult, senior) or for weight management.

Merrick's holistic canned food will spoil your canine as it combines the finer qualities of protein (turducken to buffalo and trout to lamb) while adding in fresh vegetables (peas, carrots, green beans), fruits (apples) and a variety of potatoes.

Pet Mart USA also offers natural dog treats, organic cat food and bully sticks. All food items can be delivered within 24 hours to Bergen County through the United States Postal Service or by FedEx to any other location.

Outside of the new aspects of his business, Rago and his employees for Doggy Deuce offer Pooper Scooper Services, Concrete Cleaning and Disinfecting, Indoor Disinfecting Air Treatments, all of which can be customized to your specific needs.

For those residents with feline friends, there is the option for Cat litter box maintenance where the box or boxes are emptied, cleaned and disinfected and then refilled.

If you and your family are going away or just spend long hours at work, Pet's Best Friend, a division of Doggy Deuce offers Dog walking and Dog Exercising Services, Dog and Pet sitting, Vet technician services and a Dog whisperer.

Dog sitting can be done in your own home for a larger breed or the smaller well-behaved breeds can spend a few days at the home of one of the employees.
