Bergen County Players announces auditions for "FOOLS" by Neil Simon:

This is one of Simon’s funniest comedies about a town in Russia in the 1890s that has been cursed for 200 years making everyone in the town stupid. As usual,
in a Simon play, actors have to have good comic timing.

CHARACTERS:
Leon Tulchinsky – 30ish – a school teacher excited about his first teaching job who is smitten with Dr’s daughter
Dr. Zubritsky – 55+ – a physician and community leader in the town of Klyenchikov, married to :
Lenya – age 55+ – proud of her husband and especially proud of her daughter but frightened about the curse
Sophia – 20ish – pretty –naïve and has just learned to sit beautifully
Smetsky – male – any age - town sheepherder who is looking for his dozen sheep – all 14 of them
Mishken – male – any age – town postman who enjoys reading everyone’s mail
Slovitch – male – any age – the butcher who fits right in with a town of fools
Yenchna – female – any age – sells the strangest things and calls them “fish”
Magistrate – 79 – not the brightest judge around town
