The River Edge Recreation Department and the New Jersey Concussion Center have teamed up to provide all of the River Edge coaches with a night of concussion training. As you know, every coach in River Edge is required to go through concussion training prior to the start of the athletic season in which they are coaching for. Now, instead of just being able to use a pre-recorded training webinar, you will be able to have a live presentation followed by a Question and Answer time following the presentation. The speech will be given by New Jersey Concussion Center Co-Director Dr. Catherine Mazzola, M.D.
Dr. Catherine Mazzola completed her Pediatric Neurosurgical Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh and finished her residency training in neurological surgery at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Mazzola is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. Dr. Mazzola is also the Director of New Jersey Pediatric Neurosurgical Associates, the Director of the Craniofacial Center at Atlantic Health Systems-Goryeb Children’s Hospital and also developed the Pediatric Neuromuscular Center at Goryeb Children’s Hospital. Dr. Mazzola is currently the Chair of the Workforce committee for the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies and Northeast Regional Vice-Chair. She was elected to the Executive Committee of the Congress of Neurosurgical Surgery in April 2008, and is one of the few female Neurosurgeons in the state. Dr. Mazzola maintains membership in many prestigious organizations including; American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association and the American Cleft Palate Association.
With Dr. Mazzola's experience and the New Jersey Concussion Center's expert knowledge regarding concussion, we will be able to provide the River Edge coaches with an informative and fun presentation. We look forward to meeting all of the River Edge coaches on Monday March 19!!!
