Historic New Bridge Landing To Host Annual Summertime Social

The family-friendly event will feature guided tours of all three Jersey Dutch sandstone houses.

RIVER EDGE, NJ — The Bergen County Historical Society will host its annual Summertime Social on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.at Historic New Bridge Landing in River Edge.

The family-friendly event will feature guided tours of all three Jersey Dutch sandstone houses, including the historic 1752 Steuben House, where visitors can view new exhibits and Revolutionary War artifacts from the society's collection.

Highlights include a portrayal of Benjamin Franklin by historical interpreter Jack Sherry at 2 p.m. on the front porch of the Steuben House, a broom-making demonstration at the Westervelt-Thomas Barn, and kite decorating and flying for children and families, weather permitting.

Guests can also stop by The Blackhorse Inn, located in the Campbell-Christie House, for light summer refreshments while exploring one of Bergen County's premier historic sites.
