Malki Dental to Participate in Halloween Candy Buy Back

Kids can sell back extra candy to encourage good oral health

Halloween candy isn't so scary when it comes to keeping teeth healthy, if kids enjoy their sugary indulgences in moderation and brush afterwards.

"As dentists, we enjoy a sugary treat once in a while too, but cavities don't have to follow," said Dr. Stephen Malki, DMD "So we're sponsoring a day-after Halloween party and candy buy-back program. It's our opportunity to encourage children and their families to exercise smile-friendly habits all year long - especially as we kick off the holiday season."

After trick or treating, children can set aside their favorite Halloween treats and then bring in their extra candy. Dr. Malki will be offering $1 per pound of new, unopened candy. There is a limit of five pounds per person.

During the event, children will have an opportunity to decorate cards to be sent along with the candy. Children will receive treats and a toothbrush, along with their cash incentive. Children can also look forward to a special guest appearance by George the Monkey.

Kids and their families from all over the Bergen County are invited to trade in their candy on Nov. 1, 3 to 5:30pm at Malki Dental, 111 Kinderkamack Road in River Edge.
