New Jersey Fungi Program Coming To River Edge Library Saturday

RIVER EDGE, NJ — Mushroom lovers can explore the fungi growing across the Garden State during a Saturday program at the River Edge Public Library.

“Fungi of New Jersey” is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room at 685 Elm Avenue, according to the official event listing.

New Jersey is home to more than 2,500 species of mushrooms and other fungi, and the presentation will explore their diverse beauty and ecological roles, according to the event listing. Attendees will also learn basic identification methods, including observation, spore prints, reference books and online resources.

The program will examine how people have used nonedible mushrooms in crafts. Registration is required and limited to 50 attendees.
