At the recent St. Joseph School Science Fair several sixth graders took home prizes as they were judged by faculty from surrounding parochial schools.
Taking home first place was Gian Paolo Pernicone; second place to Billy McKee and third place to Ray Gayam. Katie O'Toole, Micaela Maron and Julian Tallier each were named honorable mention winners.
The students spent four months working on their projects all while learning the scientific method. Starting with a question, students then gathered information before forming a hypothesis. From there, an experiment was conducted and data collected and then analyzed. If needed, additional testing was done prior to the Science Fair where students showed off their poster boards and results along with explaining what they learned during the process.
