St. Peter's Carnival Returns To River Edge This Week: What To Know

RIVER EDGE, NJ — St. Peter’s Carnival returns to River Edge this week for four days of rides, games, food and entertainment, and anyone planning to hit the rides can save some money by buying tickets before the gates open Thursday.

The 15th annual carnival runs Thursday through Sunday at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 445 Fifth Avenue, according to the church.

The event features rides for all ages, games, food and entertainment, along with the carnival’s 50/50 raffle. Kiddie rides start at four credits, while premium rides can require as many as eight credits, although St. Peter’s Carnival event hosts said those amounts are subject to change.

A beer garden will also be open Friday and Saturday only, from 6 to 11 p.m. Admission to the carnival is free.

The carnival opens for three hours Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m., before offering longer hours as the weekend gets underway. It will run from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Police, an ambulance and traffic control will be on site throughout the carnival.

Those planning to go on the rides have a few ticket options. Discounted presale ride tickets cost $25.67 for 30 credits and remain available until approximately 4 p.m. Thursday. After the presale ends, ride credits will be available at the carnival kiosk. Sunday-only all-day ride wristbands will also be available for $40 at the kiosk. Presale discounted credits can be purchased on the carnival’s website.

The carnival’s 50/50 raffle costs $15 per ticket. Forty percent of total sales will go to the first-place winner, 6 percent to the second-place winner and 4 percent to the third-place winner, while the remaining 50 percent will be donated to St. Peter the Apostle Church.

The drawing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and winners do not need to be present.

The carnival is also looking for volunteers to sign up to help during two- to three-hour shifts. Adult parishioners and St. Peter Academy family members ages 18 and older can run game booths, while confirmation candidates and academy students ages 14 and older can serve as runners and help with cleanup.
