RUMSON, NJ —The Borough of Rumson is continuing its renovation of the Victory Park Playground with a planned completion date later this summer.
Following the tennis/pickleball and basketball court renovations in 2025, the borough began construction on the playground in April 2026.
The replacement project is being funded through a donation from Rumson residents Justin and Victoria Gmelich.
The existing playground will be removed and replaced with a new nautical pirate-themed play area featuring fully accessible equipment, swings, and climbing and fitness elements designed for children of all ages and abilities.
Demolition was done in late April, with installation planned for May and the playground expected to reopen in early summer, according to officials.
While the playground will be closed during construction, Victory Park will remain open to the public.
