Carlton Jr., an entrepreneur and former Rumson homeowner who later settled in Little Silver before moving to Illinois. The 89-year-old Jersey City native built a national manufacturing business, launched a New York Harbor charter company, and cherished family time at the Jersey Shore before his passing on August 28.

From facilitating a Rumson Road land gift to leading Hominy Hill Golf Club's sale to the county, Mercer's decades of civic, church, and philanthropic service left a lasting imprint on the community.
