Council members were scheduled to enter a closed session to discuss candidates nominated by the Rumson Republican Committee. The agenda called for the council to select a replacement by motion before swearing in the chosen person.

The borough has not posted minutes identifying Casazza's replacement. Its website also does not state why he resigned. Casazza's council term had been scheduled to expire Thursday, December 31.
