TWO-DAY CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION COURSE

Saturday, June 2 and 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A complete childbirth education program in two-sessions including lectures on relaxation and breathing techniques. A continental breakfast will be provided. This will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6990. $150 per couple.

MOTHER TO MOTHER SUPPORT GROUP

Mondays, June 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Once your baby arrives, join other new mothers to talk about what you are experiencing.  Discussions will be led by a registered nurse on topics including infant behavior, feeding, sleeping patterns and crying, as well as recovering from childbirth.  Newborns up to age 6 months and fathers are welcome.  The program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center located at 300 2nd Avenue in Long Branch.  Registration is required by calling 732-923-6990. UNDERSTANDING YOUR TODDLER

Tuesday, June 5 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Children ages one to three are starting to walk, say “no” and throw tantrums. Learn to understand your toddler’s behavior with this program, which features real parent-tested techniques and discussions on coping strategies for managing life with a toddler. Communication, discipline, building confidence and learning patience will be covered. Ample time for questions and answers is provided in this interactive class, which will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Avenue in Long Branch.  Registration is required by calling 732-923-6990. $75 per couple.

 

CESAREAN BIRTH EDUCATION PROGRAM

Wednesday, June 6 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Designed for couples, this education program features explanations of what to expect if Cesarean delivery is indicated for first time or repeat Cesarean deliveries. This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Ave., Long Branch. Registration is required by calling 732-923-6990. $40 per couple.

 

GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN SUPPORT GROUP

Wednesdays, June 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Grandparent caregivers face many challenges including health issues, financial difficulties and lack of emotional support. This free ongoing weekly group helps address these issues in a supportive and caring environment. Once-monthly “family dinners” provide an opportunity for further support for grandparents and for the children under their care. This program will be held at the Maysie Stroock Pavilion, located at the corner of Pavilion and Second Avenues, Long Branch. To register, call 732-730-9112. Free.

 

PEDIATRIC PRE-OPERATIVE TOURS

Thursdays, June 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Tours are available for pediatric patients preparing to have a surgical procedure in the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center at Monmouth. Tours are designed to reduce anxiety giving children a hands-on experience with medical equipment and visitation to areas they will encounter on the day of their surgery. Meet in the Pediatric Playroom of the Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch. Registration is required by Tuesday for Thursday tours by calling 732-923-6525. NEW BABIES, NEW EMOTIONS SUPPORT GROUP (En Espanol)

Friday, June 8 from 3 to 4 p.m.

This group offers support for Spanish-speaking moms-to-be and new moms with any kind of postpartum-related depression and/or baby blues. Babies 12 months and under are welcome. It is sponsored by Monmouth Family Health Center and the Regional Perinatal Consortium of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. This group is held at The Women’s Wellness Center of the Monmouth Family Health Center, located at 80 Pavilion Ave. in Long Branch. EISENBERG FAMILY CENTER TOUR

Tour the Eisenberg Family Center, which offers a comfortable, homelike environment for expectant mothers in our expanded labor, delivery and recovery unit, and spacious postpartum rooms for women recovering from childbirth.  Tours will be conducted by a staff member who will answer your questions. THE HAPPIEST BABY ON THE BLOCK

Thursday, June 14 from 7 to 9 p.m.

This is a special program for families and siblings (age 2 and older) who are expecting a baby brother or sister. MOMS OF MULTIPLES SUPPORT GROUP

Wednesday, June 20 from 11 to 12:30 p.m.

Come join the only Moms of Multiples Support Group in the area. Led by a registered nurse and a mother of multiples herself, topics will include feeding and caring for more than one baby, sleep patterns and behaviors, getting out of the house, relationship changes and more. Meet and network with other new moms whose situations are similar to your own. Babies are welcome.  This program will be held at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Ave. in Long Branch. BREASTFEEDING TODAY

An introduction to breastfeeding for prospective mothers and fathers focusing on the process and techniques of breastfeeding, including advantages, preparation, concerns of working mothers and the role of the family. ONE-DAY CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION COURSE

A complete childbirth preparation course in one day geared for highly motivated participants with busy lifestyles or fluctuating schedules unable to commit to a five week program. BABY FAIR

Is there a baby in your future? Whether you’re already pregnant or plan on becoming a parent someday, you are invited to this free community event for expectant and prospective parents.  Here’s your chance to talk with health care professionals about the childbirth experience, maternity choices or any other topics that are important to you. Join us for a tour of the Eisenberg Family Center and nursery. Refreshments and free gifts will be available. ADOPTIVE PARENTING

Planning an adoption? This program helps you prepare for your child’s arrival. Classes include information on infant care, feeding and formula preparation, baby equipment, safety and child growth and development during the first year of life. For information, call 732-923-6990. $175 per couple.

 

GESTATIONAL DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM

Call to schedule an appointment.

This one-session class is designed for women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Participants will learn how gestational diabetes develops, the link between diet and blood glucose, how to plan healthy meals and how to use a blood glucose meter for home monitoring. A free blood glucose meter starter kit will be provided. Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday as needed at The Center for Diabetes Education at Monmouth Medical Center, located at 300 2nd Ave. in Long Branch.
