April 8: Physics- Build a Catapult and Design a Game
Sending something airborne, even briefly, is what fun is made of! Mechanics is the area of physics involving force, motion, and energy. Build a simple catapult to send your ball flying to your target. Everyone will design a game that uses their catapult to play.

April 15: Light Exploration- Part 1 Kaleidoscopes
Make a green kaleidoscope using recycled materials. The optics in a kaleidoscope are used to enhance our vision. Vision depends on light, and optics are used to control light by reflecting or bending it so we can see in different ways. Everyone will make a kaleidoscope that will make beautiful shapes and patterns.

April 22: Alternative Energy- Part 1 Pinwheels and Wind Turbines
Explore how wind-powered devices, such as wind turbines and pinwheels, react in different ways to wind direction. Everyone will make a pinwheel and basic wind turbine.
April 29: Air Power- Tabletop Hovercraft
Have fun building a hovercraft with recycled materials and a small motor. In this lab everyone will create a hovercraft that skims across the surface the way an air hockey puck moves. We will explore the concepts of motors, energy, and motion.
