Bird Watching Cruise To Depart From Atlantic Highlands Marina

The Maritime Heritage Association is hosting the bird watching cruise on April 9.

RUMSON, NJ — Have you ever wanted to learn about and see the abundant wildlife that lives in our local rivers and bays? Take a 3-hour Bird Watching Cruise with the Navesink Maritime Heritage Association.

The Mariner will depart from the dock in Atlantic Highlands at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, for a tour of the bayside flats at Sandy Hook, followed by a run to the mouth of the Navesink River.

Guests will be able to see the resident and migrating birds of Sandy Hook Bay and the Shrewsbury River on the tour.

“Expect to see Brant, Cormorants, Osprey, Gulls, Terns, Vultures, Oyster Catchers, Ducks, Herons, Swallows, and so much more. Bring your binoculars and join the fun. It's a great way to start summer,” said Association member Michael Humphreys.

The registration fee for each person is $50, which includes coffee, tea, and juice. The onboard cash bar will serve mimosas and bloody marys.

The Mariner will be operating at a reduced capacity of 35 passengers, the association has asked all guests to observe social distancing while on board.
