Borough Of Rumson To Offer COVID-19 Testing Event In April

Following a successful clinic last month, the Borough of Rumson will be offering a COVID-19 testing event in April.

RUMSON, NJ - Following a successful clinic last month, the Borough of Rumson will be offering a COVID-19 testing event in April.

According to an email newsletter from the borough, the initial testing event has led to the organization of Rumson’s second planned COVID-19 testing clinic on April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s slated to take place at a building within the Rumson school district.

In partnership with Legacy Health US - an affiliate of Legacy Pharmacy Group - the borough held the first public COVID-19 testing center in The Borough on Feb. 27. Borough Councilman Gary Casazza, who spearheaded the initiative to bring COVID-19 testing to Rumson in February, called the community response “magnificent” in a statement:

“Those that attended were appreciative and the efforts of everyone involved should not go unnoticed,” Casazza said, noting the unwavering support from the Rumson First Aid Squad.

In February, testing was conducted at the Rumson First Aid building behind Borough Hall. In accordance with social distancing guidelines, residents interested in being tested were provided early access to the required form for testing as well as a traffic map to follow upon entering the Borough Municipal Complex.

“Knowing that many of our families are engaging in much needed travel over the spring break, the district has designed our return to full days to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in each and every school day,” said Dr. John Bormann, Rumson School District Superintendent of Schools in a statement.

“Anyone traveling and returning to NJ on or after Saturday, April 3 will need to have a negative PCR test reported to the school district if they intend to return on Monday, April 12. This PCR test must be administered no sooner than five days after your return to NJ. Thus, we are planning to have a drive-up PCR test site that will be hosted at Forrestdale School on Thursday, April 8 in collaboration with the Borough of Rumson.”

Individuals tested in Rumson in February and April will be able to review their results 36 hours after testing.
