For too many years, residents suffered with an abandoned home on River Road. Finally the property was purchased, the home knocked down and after a year work began on a new home. How sad to see that the oversized property was clear cut by the builder. Yes, there was an initial denial to remove all trees by the Town, but on appeal, approval was granted to remove all the trees. Perhaps there was a public hearing. However as a neighbor of the property, I can assure all, I was not advised and had no chance to comment. In the approval, it was made clear that it would be easier and no doubt cheaper to just let the builder cut down (virtually all) trees that were very old and “in the way”. Sad day for our town. Residents lose, builders win.
