Arbor day is always celebrated on the last Friday in April in New Jersey, if you didn't know. People all around the world celebrate their arbor day an a date in early spring as well. This is an important day for the people in the green industry as well as all the people who love and care for the environment in our communities. We utilize this special day to spread the word about how important trees are to our environment and the communities we live in. We educate as many young people as we can to appreciate and understand how important trees are in our everyday lives. We give each child their own tree to plant for the future forest, THEN WE GO OUT AND PLANT SOME TREES!!!!!!
This Year I had the pleasure of helping some of the Rumson Shade Tree Members enlighten about 100 Kindergarten students about Arbor day. We engaged the students and then went out and Planted a Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) at the rear of the Forrestdale Elementary School We also gave each student their own tree to plant at home (Norway Spruce & White Oak). It was a great day of fun and education.
What did you do last Friday??????
