Fair Haven Day, Oktoberfest Postponed Until 2021
"In the end it all came down to the safety of our community. Nothing was worth the risk of our residents," said Event Chair Susan Sorensen.
FAIR HAVEN, NJ – After much deliberation and rescheduling, the Foundation of Fair Haven ultimately decided to postpone Fair Haven Day and Fair Haven Oktoberfest festivities until 2021.
While the annual events typically occur separately in June and September, plans were made earlier this summer to combine the two festivities into one event for Sept. 12.
However, in an announcement made last week, the Foundation of Fair Haven cited the “many obstacles” barring the events from happening this year.

“There were many obstacles to overcome and such, many strategic and creative options were explored, but in the end it all came down to the safety of our community. Nothing was worth the risk of our residents,” said Event Chair Susan Sorensen in a statement. “The Committee was really hoping to be able to have an event celebrating everyone being able to come together again, after Covid, but due to circumstances out of our control, and event would be right after school reopening, we did not feel it was right to move forward with Oktoberfest.”
The yearly Fair Haven Day at Fair Haven Fields features live music, food vendors, family activities and a pre-Fourth of July fireworks show. The Oktoberfest celebration has long since been a fundraiser for the foundation, offering an array of crafts, games, food and, of course, beer and wine.
