Flooding Is Topic Of Talk By Rumson Waterspirit Advocacy Group

RUMSON, NJ — A webinar Sept. 7 will help equip municipal employees and local leaders with the knowledge and resources to mitigate flooding by utilizing stormwater utilities and green infrastructure, a local environmental advocacy group says.

Waterspirit, based in Rumson, and the NJ League of Conservation Voters are hosting the webinar that takes place Sept. 7 from noon to 1 p.m.

New Jersey is already experiencing severe flooding, especially in low-lying and vulnerable parts of the state, the organizers of the talk say.

Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and widespread, and development compounds the volume of stormwater runoff, causing strains and failures of water infrastructure, such as combined sewer overflows into city streets and homes.
