Holy Cross School Celebrates its 75th Anniversary

RUMSON – January 29, 2017 kicked off a week of celebration as Holy Cross School commemorates its 75^th anniversary (1941/42 – 2016/17 school years) during annual Catholic Schools Week. The festivities opened with a beautiful 10:30 AM Mass celebrated by Fr. Michael Manning, Pastor of Holy Cross Church, with readings provided by Holy Cross students. The faculty processed in and were recognized for their dedication to Catholic education. Alumni and former teachers, as well as current students and their families, were also in attendance. After Mass, the congregation gathered in the school’s gymatorium for refreshments provided by the PTA. Each family received a printed copy of the school's history.

During the reception, Principal William Belluzzi, PTA President Beth Camillone and PTA Treasurer Josyane Coughlin recognized faculty and staff members who had reached special milestones with a commemorative pin. Pins were awarded for 5 years of dedicated service to Holy Cross, and in 5-year increments, all the way up to 40 years! Religion teacher Miss Geraldine Ciampoli (43 years) and Language Arts teacher Mrs. Anne McCullough (46 years) were honored to be recognized for their careers dedicated to teaching in the Catholic grade school.

Following the reception, student ambassadors, teachers and administrators hosted an 0pen house for prospective students and had a nice surprise. Several alumni from the Class of 1957 came by for a tour of the school. Both the visitors and the ambassadors delighted in the experience. Holy Cross School is dedicated to educating the whole child in faith, knowledge and character in a God-centered, family atmosphere. The next scheduled open house for prospective Pre K to Grade 8 students and their families is Friday, Feb. 24th from 9am to 10:30am.
