Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus Host ‘Dance for Your Heart” Event at Monmouth Mall

In conjunction with American Heart Month, MMC and MMCSC provided a host of cardiac screenings to nearly 100 people

Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, both RWJBarnabas Health facilities, hosted the fourth annual dance-themed American Heart Month event at Eatontown’s Monmouth Mall on February 11, providing a host of cardiac screenings to nearly 100 people.

The annual event celebrates heart health and featured dance, health screenings and overall cardiac risk and health information. Special guests Senator Jennifer Beck, who represents New Jersey’s 11th Legislative District, and Eatontown Mayor Dennis Connelly provided remarks.

A month-long national observance, American Heart Month urges citizens to recognize the nationwide problem of heart and blood vessel diseases and support all essential programs required to solve the problem.

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States. It is also one of the most preventable. Throughout February, Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus and its fellow RWJBarnabas Health Heart Centers are hosting a range of screening events, educational programs, nutritional and heart disease risk assessments, and family-focused programs at hospitals and community-based centers. From infant CPR courses to cardiac physicians explaining the latest guidelines for preventing heart attack and stroke, to dance parties that encourage people of all ages to get moving, all the activities are designed to improve the heart health of New Jersey residents.
