Fair Haven, NJ - Fair Haven's own, Olympic swimmer Connor Jaeger, will make a special homecoming appearance Wednesday night at the Fair Haven Firemen's Fair! Come meet this hometown Olympic star between 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday in front of the Fair Haven firehouse.

Connor himself announced it on his Instagram account: This Wednesday 8/31 from 7-9pm please come and meet me at Fair Haven's Fireman's Fair for a selfie booth. Please come to meet me and give me an opportunity to thank you all for the unbelievable support you have shown me over the past two months!

Jaeger, 24, won silver in the 1,500-meter freestyle race at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He swam the incredibly grueling race in 14:39.48, making him the first American ever to swim it in under 14:40. Jaeger is a 2010 graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High and the high school held a viewing party for him during the race, where many Fair Haven locals gathered to cheer him on and watch him win silver.

Jaeger is the son of Fair Haven Councilman Eric Jaeger and wife, Bernadette. He has a sister, Dana. And he told the Detroit Free-Press that he never swam the 1,500 meters at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High because, in part, he actually thought about quitting swimming entirely at the time, to focus on his school work.
