Rumson's DiPiero Family Donates $500,000 to Riverview Medical Center
Donation will help fund new surgical center for excellence at the Red Bank complex.
The DiPiero family of Rumson has donated $500,000 to Riverview Medical Center, a spokesman announced today.
The gift will help build Riverview's new 22,000-square foot surgical center set to open in 2012, which will benefit local residents who will be able to receive advanced surgical procedures near home -- instead of going to New York City.
This is one of several large donations the DiPiero family has given to Riverview Medical Center. Since 2005, Domenic DiPiero, the founder of Newport Capital Group, has served as a trustee of the medical center. He is now the new chairman of the Riverview Medical Center Foundation board.

“My family and I are so proud to support Riverview Medical Center in this way, as Riverview has been our family’s hospital for more than three decades,” said Domenic DiPiero, in a written statement. "We are delighted and privileged to be able to have an impact on the health care of our community through this gift, as well as my role as chairman of the RMC Foundation Board,” he says.
“I look forward to what the future will bring in terms of continued and increased support for this outstanding Medical Center and in turn, the many patients they serve. Riverview is creating a center that reflects the generosity and strength of our growing community to the benefit of countless families.”

The DiPiero donation is one of several offered to the hospital's new surgical center in recent weeks. On March 28, Bob and Joan Rechnitz of Red Bank donated $5 million to the cause. On April 4, George and Vita Kolber gave $1 million.
The new surgical center will include two specialty surgical suites, a new post-anesthesia care area, same-day surgery suite, and a modern conference and educational center.
“We are so very grateful to the DiPiero family for making this commitment to Riverview Medical Center,” said David Flood, president of the Meridian Health Foundation, in a press release. “Their support over the years has been critical to the success of growing the Medical Center.
Riverview Medical Center’s surgical volume has grown by more than 20% in the past three years. As a result of the expansion, Riverview expects to handle 445 new surgical cases, a 5.5% growth by 2013.
“This significant gift will be instrumental in growing our hospital and enhancing our center for surgical excellence for the benefit of our patients and the community,” says Tim Hogan, FACHE, president of Riverview Medical Center, in a press release.
