Sandy Hook Fishing Permits Extended Due To Shutdown
The annual sale of fishing permits has historically been held on Feb. 1, but due to the shutdown this year it has been postponed.

SANDY HOOK GATEWAY NATIONAL RECREATION AREA, NJ — Gateway National Recreation Area announced Friday, Jan. 25 they will extend the 2018 fishing permits until the new 2019 permits are issued.
Normally, fishing permits are good for one year at locations within Gateway: Staten Island, Jamaica Bay and Sandy Hook, N.J. The annual sale of fishing permits has historically been held on Feb. 1.
However, this year, due to the federal government shutdown, the annual sale will be held at a later date.

During the federal government shutdown, outdoor areas of the park will remain accessible. Most facilities will remain closed, including visitor centers. For updates on the shutdown, please visit www.doi.gov/shutdown.
