Shore House Partners with the Red Bank Regional Culinary Club and Restoration Hardware for a special Thanksgiving dinner.

Shore House breaks the cycle of isolation caused by mental illness by serving Thanksgiving dinner to its members.

Long Branch, November 26, 2015: Members of Shore House enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings prepared by civic minded students belonging to the Red Bank Regional Culinary Club under the guidance of Chef Peter Roskowinski and paid for by a group of equally community minded sales associates from Restoration Hardware, Red Bank. The menu included turkey, buttermilk biscuits, stuffing with bacon and cranberry-orange chutney, the last two being particular favorites. In addition to underwriting the meal, Restoration Hardware made the desserts and helped serve.

Holidays are a particularly challenging time for those living with mental illness, because many do not have family members or a support system to celebrate the day. Shore House remains open on holidays to offer a warm, friendly environment where all are welcome. Stigma and discrimination play an important role as to why those with mental illness do not seek treatment. This in turn leads many to withdraw from their community. The Red Bank Regional Culinary Club and Restoration Hardware showed true community spirit by partnering with Shore House to allow members to gather together to enjoy the holiday and break the cycle of isolation that is so common among those living with mental illness.

About Shore House: Shore House is a membership organization dedicated to providing resources and supportive services to people with mental illness so that they may have a fulfilling life, including access to employment, education, housing, health care, and the opportunity to be productive, contributing members of their community. Shore House strives to achieve the above by operating under the guidelines stated in the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs ™ as determined by Clubhouse International.
