Small Factory Videogame, Stopmotion, Cartoon & Animation Summer Camps: July 21 – July 25

Videogame 101/201 And Stopmotion, 9am – 12pm In Video Game students learn the basics/fundamentals of Game Making. Starting out with a brick breaker style game, kids learn how to create sprites and objects. Then they code those objects to bring the game to life. Once we have the basics down they evolve their game with power ups and multiple levels of increasing difficulty. We then take what we learned with our first game and apply it to a platform style game (ex: super mario bros.), where kids create characters that can jump, fall using gravity, and attack. They create collectable items and enemies that they will have to defeat and can make expansive levels with the use of side scrolling. In the Stop Motion class where they willwork together to design, direct and produce their own stop motion animation movie. Students learn the basics of using a video camera as well as animation and movie-making. The class concludes with a red carpet premiere!

Create-A-Cartoon And Animation 101/201, 1pm – 4pm. In Animation, students explore the basics of animation production using techniques of creating a character, using frames, tweening and onionskin. The final product will be a basic animation produced entirely by the student. In the Create-A-Cartoon portion, students will work together to dream up an original story that will be turned into a 2-3 minute movie. They will journey through the production process while developing characters, backgrounds, props, scripts and music. The class concludes with a red carpet premiere of their cartoon movie!
