The R-FH Weekend: What's Goin' On
See what's happening the first 'local summer' weekend in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
This weekend marks the first “local summer” weekend of the season; and there’s a lot to do in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
With Hurricane Leslie at bay, the for the weekend forecast haze and rain with a possibility of thunderstorms on Saturday and clearing up on Sunday with sunny, drier weather for beachgoers and those looking to do something outdoors.
With the official weekend days, Saturday and Sunday, upon us, Friday night is jump starting the area with the opening of football season and at R-FH’s newly revamped Borden Stadium, track and field. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Also on Friday night, next door in Red Bank, to share with all customers. The shop has been offering $5 Fridays, featuring six different cheeses paired with different nuts, spreads and breads for, yes, $5.
The night is billed as a taste testing that acquaints customers with different cheeses and brings them back for more.

And in Sea Bright at Merri-Makers’ The Water’s Edge, from 7 to 11 p.m.
Proceeds from the event are donated to the CBA scholarship fund.
Tickets are $125 each and include a lobster dinner, music, 50/50 raffle, gift baskets and a silent auction of diverse items including a signed guitar.
On Saturday, the annual Fair Haven Garden Party is set for 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Leasor home at 111 Grange Avenue. The event will feature food from Brennan’s, Rumson, music by Tri City Jazz, a flower gift card auction a “cork” sale and a 50/50.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Historic Association of Fair Haven and The Foundation of Fair Haven.
On Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. , showcasing and awarding with prizes amateur and professional skim boarders who participate in the event.
The event is free to spectators.
Heading into the week, Fair Haven Borough Council meets on Monday night and Rumson on Tuesday.
