Torn From the Headlines! Stories from Sayreville's Strange Past

Chaos, mayhem, and strange happenings will be the topic as Sarah Blake of Hushed-Up History presents some zany news stories from Sayreville’s past at the November 12 meeting of the Sayreville Historical Society.

Through Hushed-Up History, Blake uncovers stories that have been forgotten or hidden. Her investigation into Sayreville’s past discovered claypit misadventures, a mayor questioned about bootlegging, a shark, a misbehaving police chief, and did we mention a shark?

The Sayreville Historical Society meeting will take place in the Active Adult Center at 423 Main Street. A general meeting will begin at 7:15 pm and the presentation will start at 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

While Society meetings are free and open to the public, we collect non-perishable food items for the Sayreville Food Pantry.
