1 Burglary, 1 Attempted Burglary To Scotch Plains Homes
A rear window had been pried open and the house ransacked in the reported burglary in Scotch Plains.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A burglary and attempted burglary were reported in Scotch Plains.
On June 21, patrol officers responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Terrill Rd. on an activated alarm. While checking the premise they located damage to the front door from an apparent attempted burglary. Entry was not gained. This remains under investigation, police report.
On June 22, patrol units responded to an activated alarm on Unami Lane. Upon arrival they found the house burglarized. The Union County Sheriff’s K-9 responded to attempt a track with negative results. A rear window had been pried open and the house ransacked. This remains under investigation, police report.

On June 19: Officers responded to Rivervale Ct. on a report of a vehicle that was smoking. Upon arrival they located a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The Scotch Plains Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries reported.

On June 21: Steven M. Smith, 33, of Fords was arrested for driving under the influence during a motor
vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Dave Belford. He was transported to headquarters and processed.
On June 22: A resident on Alton Way reported a fraud. Someone gained access to the victim’s personal accounts. This remains under investigation.
On June 22: A resident of Bartle Ave. reported the theft of his son’s Iphone. Officers were able to track the phone to the MainStar restaurant located at 429 Park Ave. During the investigation Yiqin Chen, 40, of
Brooklyn, New York was arrested and charged with theft. He was transported to headquarters and processed. Arrested by Patrolman Gerard Rites.
On June 22: Jamil A. Fowler, 24, of Scotch Plains was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension during a suspicious person’s investigation conducted by Patrolman Zack VonLangen. He also had an active warrant out of Plainfield. He was transported to headquarters and processed.
On June 22: A resident on Maple Hill Rd. reported a fraud. Someone opened several credit cards in the victim’s name. This remains under investigation.
On June 24: Crystal J. Faison, 34, of Rahway was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains by Patrolman Bryan Frew. She was transported to headquarters and processed.
On June 25: Brianna E. Jean Julien, 18, of Union was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
Also arrested was Brianna A. Butler, 18, of Union charged with possession of marijuana. Both arrests were the result of a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Damian Serafin. Both parties were transported to headquarters and processed. Several juveniles were also taken into protective custody and turned over to their parents.
