1 Home Burglarized, 2 Cars Stolen In Scotch Plains

A DUI crash, theft of gas, fraud and more were also reported in the township last week.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — One home was broken into and two cars were stolen in the township, Scotch Plains police reported last week.

On Dec. 30, A resident on Canterbury Drive reported their house was burglarized between Dec. 22 and Dec. 27. Numerous items reported stolen.

On Dec. 29, A resident on Country Club Lane reported the theft of his 2014 Ford Fusion during the overnight hours. Vehicle has been entered stolen.

On Jan. 2, A resident on Rahway Road reported the theft of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee from their driveway. The vehicle was recovered later that night in East Orange.

On Dec. 28: A resident on Pine St. reported identity theft. Someone attempted to open a bank account in the victim's name.

On Dec. 28: A resident on W. Broad Street reported a fraud. The victim made a purchase on the internet and never received the item.

On Dec. 29: A resident on Sunset Place reported the attempted theft of two tires from their vehicle. The victim looked outside and saw two men wearing dark clothing near her vehicle. The victim yelled at them and they fled the area.

On Dec. 30: A resident on E. Second Street reported fraudulent activity and stated someone opened a cell account in their name.

On Dec. 30: The management of Havana Mia at 2510 Route 22 reported illegal dumping. Someone left two large leather couches in the back corner of their parking lot.

On Dec. 31: Erin E. Walker, 30, of Scotch Plains was arrested for obstruction of justice during a
disturbance call at her home by Patrolman Willie DeJesus. Walker was taken to headquarters and processed.

On Jan. 1: Ravi A. Desai, 21, of Scotch Plains was arrested for driving under the influence during
a suspicious motor vehicle investigation. It was also determined he was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Park Avenue and E. Second Street in which the traffic signal was knocked over. The passenger in the vehicle identified as Andrew D. Borik, 21 of Scotch Plains was also arrested for possession of prescription drugs. Both were taken to headquarters and processed. No injuries were reported.

On Jan. 1: The bus stop shelter at Front Street and Terrill Road was spray-painted during the overnights hours.

On Jan. 3: The management of the Exxon station at 1800 Route 22 reported a theft of gas. The driver requested fuel and fled the scene without paying. The vehicle was described as a green Dodge Durango and plate the attendant gave officers on the scene came back to a reported stolen vehicle out of Plainfield.

On Jan. 3: The management of the 7-11 at 302 Park Ave. reported the theft of energy drinks. A man entered the store and left without paying.
