2 Fanwood Residents Test Positive For Coronavirus

This brings the borough's total to three positive new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.

FANWOOD, NJ — Two Fanwood residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, borough officials announced Friday. This brings the borough's total to three positive COVID-19 cases.

A 35-year-old woman self-reported herself on Thursday and a 54-year-old man is the second case. Both cases are unrelated and both are recovering at home, self-managing their symptoms without incident, according to Fanwood Borough.

Westfield Regional Health Department has interviewed both residents and will make contact with anyone who came in contact with them.

Murphy said there are 155 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the state total to 890 on Friday. There were also two more deaths, raising the total to 11 deaths. (See Related: Gov. Murphy: 2 More NJ Coronavirus Deaths, Strong Measures Coming)

There are 9 new cases in Union County on Friday for a total of 43 confirmed cases.

The governor said the state should expect stronger measures on Saturday to "tighten the screws" and help bring an end to the outbreak. New Jersey will likely shut all non-essential businesses, and gatherings of 10 – or even fewer – will likely be banned, Murphy said
