2 Teens ID'd In Fatal Fiery Crash On Route 22 In Mountainside
One teen was ejected from the car and the other was trapped inside when it caught fire on Jan. 12, Mountainside police said.
MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — Two Plainfield teens have been identified as those that died in a car crash on Jan. 12 on Route 22 near the Garden State Parkway. The teens had remained unidentified until Wednesday.
Miram Karanoub, 16, of Plainfield was identified as one of the victims who was ejected from the vehicle upon impact, Mountainside Police Chief Joseph Giannuzzi said.
LTD A. Frederick, 18, of Plainfield was identified through dental records as the driver of the vehicle, Giannuzzi said.

The crash happened at around 4:05 a.m. when Mountainside police received multiple calls of a vehicle on fire Route 22 East near the intersection with the Garden State Parkway, police said.
The car was found to have been speeding when it left the highway and hit a tree in the center median of Route 22 near the state Department of Transportation yard, police said.

The vehicle caught fire upon impact, police said.
Karanoub was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Frederick was trapped in the vehicle when it caught fire and burned, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Karanoub by her sister.
"She was a very smart and had a future of being a rapper ahead of her," Malakann Karanoub wrote on the GoFundMe page. "All donations count no matter if its $1. Rest in peace maria."
