2 Unlocked Vehicles Burglarized Reported In Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains Police also reported two bike thefts, criminal mischief to a township business and home, fraud, warrant arrests and more.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Two unlocked vehicles were reportedly burglarized in the township, according to the Scotch Plains Police blotter.

On Oct. 16: A resident on Brandywine Court reported the theft of his handicap placard from his unlocked vehicle. Victim believes theft occurred sometime on Oct. 15.

On Oct. 27: A resident in the 1400 block of Martine Avenue reported their vehicle was burglarized overnight. Vehicle was left unlocked and had miscellaneous items taken.

On Oct. 16: Raymond E. White, 41, of Plainfield was arrested for providing false information to a law enforcement officer during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Andrew Gitto. White also had an
active warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Department. White was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Oct. 17: A resident on Shackamaxon Drive reported a fraud. The victim’s account information was used to make an unauthorized transaction at a bank in Jersey City. This is under investigation.

On Oct. 20: Katherine Nemeth, 24, of Cranford was arrested during a suspicious person investigation conducted by Patrolman Jason Everitt. Nemeth was charged with disorderly conduct.

On Oct. 21: A Warren resident reported their vehicle was damaged while parked in the 1500 block of E. Second Street sometime overnight.

On Oct. 21: A resident on Black Birch Road reported a criminal mischief. The exterior of the home was spray painted. Unknown when incident occurred.

On Oct. 21: Phillip A. Fusco, 36, of Scotch Plains was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Union during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Gerard Rites. Fusco was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Oct. 21: Alex L. Moreno, 22, of Plainfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of North Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Bryan Frew. Moreno was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Oct. 21: A resident on Elm Ct. reported a fraud. Someone purchased a cell phone and opened several accounts in victim’s name. This is under investigation.

On Oct. 22: Two residents in the 2300 block of Mountain Avenue reported the theft of bicycles from the property. The bikes were located a short time later in the area of Bird Ave. This is under investigation.

On Oct. 23: A business in the 1700 block of E. Second Street reported a criminal mischief. The owner reported damage to a door in the rear of the building.

On Oct. 29: Royland Angus, 27, of Irvington was arrested for possession of marijuana and on an outstanding warrant out of Roselle Park during a suspicious person call by Patrolman Eric Fricks. Angus was transported to headquarters and processed.
