4 Cars Burglarized Overnight In Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains Police also reported incidents of theft and fraud in the township.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Four Scotch Plains residents reported their cars were burglarized on the same day.

On Nov. 20, four residents on Country Club Lane said their vehicles were burglarized during the overnight hours, Scotch Plains Police said.

On Nov. 17: Two residents reported the theft of items from lockers at the RWJ fitness center located at 2120 Lamberts Mill Rd.

On Nov. 17: A resident on Mountain Avenue reported a fraud. The victim purchased an item on Facebook and was immediately blocked on social media and never received the item he purchased.

On Nov. 21: Oscar Lainez-Diaz, 40, of Plainfield was arrested on an active warrant out of Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Andrew Gitto. Lainez-Diaz was transported to headquarters and processed.

On Nov. 21: A resident on Cooper Road reported fraudulent activity on a credit card account.

On Nov. 21: A resident on Lyde Place reported a fraud. The victim was contacted by someone stating they worked for Comcast and granted the person remote access to their computer. The victim then purchased numerous gift cards and provided the suspect with the card routing numbers afterward realizing that it was a scam.
