7 Car Burglaries In 2 Weeks Reported In Scotch Plains
DUI, warrant and fraud arrests were also reported by the Scotch Plains Police.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A total of seven car burglaries have been reported in the township in a two-week span, according to the Scotch Plains Police Blotter.
On Aug. 29: A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Sleepy Hollow Lane. The driver side window was pried and broken with several items removed from vehicle. Occurred during overnight hours
On Aug. 29: A vehicle burglary was reported in the 900 block of Raritan Rd. The vehicle was left unlocked and was gone through during the overnight hours.

On Sept. 10: A resident in the 2100 block of Jersey Ave. reported a vehicle burglary. Occurred during overnight hours.
On Sept. 14: Two residents on Edgewood Terr. reported vehicle burglaries. Occurred during overnight hours.

On Sept. 14: Two residents on Seneca Rd. reported vehicle burglaries. Occurred during overnight hours. All incidents are under active investigation.
Other Scotch Plains Police Blotter items:
On Aug. 27: Roberto Carlos Toncel-Ospino, 37, of North Plainfield was arrested and charged with driving under the influence during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Officer Tricia DiLollo. Toncel-Ospino was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Aug. 28: Patrol units responded to a business on Jerusalem Rd. on a report of a machine sparking and on fire. The Scotch Plains Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The Westfield, Fanwood and Rahway Fire Departments also responded as a precaution.
On Aug. 28: Davonne R. Martin, 19, of Newark was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains. Arrested by Patrolman Chris Ostrowski. Martin was processed and transported to Union County Jail.
On Aug. 29: The management at the U-Haul located at 2015 Rt. 22 reported the theft of a 2018 GMC Sierra. The vehicle had been rented and was never returned. Vehicle has been entered stolen.
On Aug. 29: Corey Robinson, 28, of Newark was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains. Arrested by Patrolman. Mike Baltazar and processed.
On Aug. 30: Matthew L. Williams, 27, of Plainfield was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Piscataway and Plainfield during a suspicious persons investigation at the Quick Chek located at 1928 Westfield Ave. by Sgt. Brian Hayeck. Williams was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Sept 3: Lynn M. Merrill, 69, of Rahway was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of South Bound Brook during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Zack VonLangen. Merrill was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Sept. 4: Elie F. Paul, 19, of South Plainfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of North Plainfield during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Ted Florio. Paul was transported to headquarters and processed.
On Sept. 11: A resident on Concord Rd reported a fraud. Victim noticed suspicious activity on a credit card account.
On Sept. 11: A resident on Grant Ave reported a fraud. Victim noticed unauthorized transactions on their credit card account.
On Sept. 12: Nicholas M. Grace, 23, of Scotch Plains was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Linden. Arrested by Patrolman Chris Ostrowski.
On Sept. 17: A resident on Willow Ave reported a fraud. Someone opened credit cards in victim’s name.
