Alarm Wakes Sleeping Homeowner During Burglary In Scotch Plains

A Scotch Plains resident was awoken by their house alarm in the middle of the night to find the home burglarized, police reported.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains resident was awoken by their house alarm in the middle of the night to find the home burglarized, police say.

On Monday, March 25, a resident on Clarks Lane said their house alarm sounded at 4 a.m. and they found the back door open.

The resident thought the wind blew the door open and locked it, Scotch Plains Police reported.

Later in the morning the resident noticed a purse missing from the kitchen and contacted the police department, police reported.

This remains under investigation.
