SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - Scotch Plains Township and its designated redeveloper, Woodmont Properties, will host a public information session on a long-anticipated downtown redevelopment project Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Scotch Plains Town Hall, 430 Park Ave.
The project centers on approximately nine acres of downtown public property, with Woodmont proposing a maximum building height of four stories, expanded parking and new public open spaces to enhance the Alan M. Augustine Village Green. The redevelopment area includes public lots and parcels and envisions a mix of retail, restaurants, apartments, a new combined library and town hall, and public plazas along Park Avenue and surrounding streets.
The Township Council designated Woodmont as conditional redeveloper in June 2023 following an evaluation of 11 submissions. Fairfield-based Woodmont Properties has nearly 60 years of experience in residential and mixed-use redevelopment and has worked in downtown areas including Morristown, Cranford, Red Bank and Metuchen.
Monday's session will give residents an opportunity to meet Woodmont Properties, hear how the township is working with the firm on the revitalization effort, and view proposed site plans and renderings.
The meeting will be broadcast live and archived on SPTV and the township's Facebook page. For more information, visit scotchplainsnj.gov or call (908) 322-6700, ext. 317.
