Blotter: FW Police Arrest One for Shoplifting, Three for Warrants

Police activity in the borough from Jan. 31 through Feb. 6.

The  reportedly caught a shoplifter red-handed last Saturday, Feb. 5. At 1:48 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 100-block of South Avenue that had reported a theft. Upon arrival, the officers discovered that store employees had detained Kiera Graves, 18, of Plainfield, who had allegedly attempted to leave the store with $100 of merchandise in a shopping cart.  

The officers arrested Graves and transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released pending a court hearing.

Thursday, Feb. 3:

  • Police arrested Tracy Best, 41, of Newark, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Newark court. At 11:23 a.m., officers stopped Best at Terrill Road and McCrea Place for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported her to police headquarters, where she was processed and released.
  • Police arrested Edgar Gonzalez, 27, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Piscataway court. At 4:51 p.m., officers stopped Gonzalez in the 300-block of South Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.

Saturday, Feb. 5:

  • Police arrested James Gabriel, 47, of Fanwood, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Union County Superior Court. At 11:33 a.m., officers on routine patrol in the 200-block of Midway Avenue recognized and detained Gabriel. They confirmed the warrant with the county, arrested Gabriel and turned him over to the Union County Jail pending his court hearing. 

Sunday, Feb. 6:

  • Police arrested Harry DeCosey Jr., 31, of Plainfield, for an outstanding warrant issued by the Irvington court. At 3:31 a.m., officers stopped DeCosey at LaGrande Avenue and Martine Avenue for a motor vehicle violation and discovered the warrant. They transported him to police headquarters, where he was processed and released.
