Celebrate Sinatra's 100th Birthday at Scotch Plains Public Library

Music lovers are invited to Scotch Plains Public Library to celebrate Frankie's birthday in style.

Frank Sinatra, New Jersey native and American icon was born on December 12, 1915. Music lovers are invited to Scotch Plains Public Library to celebrate his 100th birthday in style.

On Friday, December 11th, festivities will include a NOON showing of On the Town, a 1949 musical film starring Frank Sinatra, directed by Gene Kelly. At 1:45, we will serve cake and coffee.

At 2:30, the library is proud to present “A Century of Sinatra.” Come fly away with performer Dave DeLuca as he pays tribute to Frank Sinatra, celebrating the man, the music, and the great composers, lyricists, and arrangers who put their indelible stamp on an incredible period in American musical history. Dave DeLuca is an accomplished singer, songwriter and recording engineer who has been performing for over 30 years.

SPPL’s celebration of Frankie will continue at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, when Mel Glazer presents “ The Frank Sinatra You Never Knew: A Laugh and Learn Experience.” Mel Glazer is a raconteur, who swears the stories he tells about Frank Sinatra’s family, friends, and the women in his life, are all true. Mel’s perspective on Sinatra attained international attention when he was interviewed by Joe Franklin on Bloomberg’s “Business of Show Business.” He has co-written songs that have been recorded by Etta James, Elvis Presley, Robert Plant, and Irish music Icon Daniel O’Donnell.

We will wrap up Saturday’s celebration with cake from 3:30 - 4:00 pm.
