DUI, Marijuana Possession, Fraud Reported In Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains Police report making arrests for driving under the influence, marijuana possession and more.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains Police report making arrests for driving under the influence, marijuana possession and more.

Scotch Plains Police Blotter:

On May 21: A resident of Maddaket Court reported a fraud. Someone gained access to the victim’s credit card information and made a fraudulent online purchase.

On May 23: A resident in the 2300 block of Redwood Rd. reported a fraud. Victim stated that several checks were cashed against his bank account without his knowledge. Under investigation.

On May 23: Cristobal Avila, 27, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with providing false information to police during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Chris Ostrowski. Avila also had an active warrant out of South Plainfield. Transported to headquarters and processed.

On May 23: Jonathan J. Lemaine, 32, of Plainfield was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Plainsboro and Sayreville during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Andrew Gitto. Transported to headquarters and processed.

On May 24: Victor E. Peralta, 28, of Perth Amboy was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Scotch Plains. Arrested and processed by Patrolman Damian Serafin.

On May 24: Alison N. Serpico, 20, of Westfield was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana during a motor vehicle accident investigation conducted by Patrolman Jason Everitt. Serpico was transported to headquarters and processed. There were no injuries reported in the single car accident.

On May 25: Andres F. Quijana, 25, of Scotch Plains was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana during a motor vehicle stop conducted by Patrolman Andrew Gitto. Transported to headquarters and
processed.

On May 25: A resident in the 1700 block of Mountain Ave. reported the theft of their 2004 black Honda Civic. The theft occurred during the overnight hours. The vehicle has been entered stolen.

On May 25: Melvin A. Hanciles, 26, of Scotch Plains was arrested for defiant trespassing at the Quick
Check located at 1928 Westfield Ave. Arrested by Patrolman Dave Belford and transported to headquarters for processing.

On May 26: Ryan Zinkowicz, 33, of Union was arrested and charged with driving under the influence during a motor vehicle accident investigation conducted by Patrolman Luis Pereira. No injuries were reported.

On May 27: Sean M. McCarthy, 48, of Plainfield was arrested for driving under the influence during a motor vehicle investigation conducted by Patrolman Devon Turner. Transported to headquarters and processed.
